Course : MOBILITY-BORDERS HERITAGE AND RESILIENCE THROUGH STORY-TELLING

 The course offers a blended learning experience that combines structured online teaching with immersive, place-based fieldwork. It explores how people understand and narrate mobility, identity, and border experiences through ethnographic methods such as participant observation, oral histories, sensory ethnography, and digital storytelling. The online component is organised into three blocks—covering theoretical foundations, methodological tools, and ethics—preparing students for the physical programme through critical engagement with case studies, narrative construction, and reflection on representation and positionality. Ethnography is approached not just as a method, but as a relational and reflexive practice shaped by encounters, co-produced meanings, and the researcher’s perspective. The physical component translates this knowledge into embodied learning through lectures, walking ethnographies, soundscape documentation, and interactions with community members. Each day focuses on a specific theme—resilience, heritage, borders, digital methods, and synthesis—linking theory with practical skills. The course emphasises ethical sensitivity, cultural humility, and the importance of amplifying marginalised voices, encouraging students to integrate digital and experiential methods in documenting and interpreting lived experiences. Designed collaboratively by partner institutions, the programme promotes inclusive, international learning while positioning storytelling and ethnography as powerful tools for understanding and communicating the complexities of mobility, borders, and heritage in contemporary societies.
