Description

The course aims to introduce students to the fundamental concepts and methods related to Development Economics and Well Being. Initially, the concept, scope, objectives, and measurement methods of economic development are explored, as well as the distinction between developed and developing countries. Subsequently, the characteristics of underdevelopment and the main factors influencing the development process are analyzed.

Special emphasis is placed on the role of human capital (such as population, migration, education, health, and labour) and capital resources (such as physical capital and technology) in economic development. Additionally, the contribution of the agricultural sector and industrial development to promoting economic growth is examined.

Furthermore, reference is made to the basic obstacles faced by less developed countries, while specific cases of such economies are studied.
