ENGLISH- Assessment forms

Option 1: 3 assignments

13 November (THURS.) Mid-term quiz  on book units 1,3,14,19,20 and the employability skills (40 pts) IN CLASS

- cover letter section of 5 gaps

- 5 theory question gap filling (main ideas or terms)

- 5 vocabulary matching

- 5 derivatives

27 November (THURSDAY) Description of a transferable skill in 4 paragraphs  (maximum of 30 pts) upload on eclass https://openeclass.uom.gr/modules/work/index.php?course=UNI103&id=6486 

Choose one of the situations: a) a marketing position with the fashion industry, b) hotel receptionist, c) Public Relations for a bar, d) accountant, e) highschool student coach, f) tour guide. Make sure your chosen skill relates to one of these positions.

-justification why this skill is relevant to the job/industry I am applying for

-situation/task (a situation you found yourself in in the past and the task you had to complete)

-action (the action you took that proved useful)

-result (the positive result your actions had)(ανάλογα με τη συμμετοχή) 

9- 11 December 15 min-oral presentation (individual or pair) of the business practices of a country of your choice.  (30 pts)

Option 2: end-of-term exam

• Reading Comprehension: 5 questions to answer in your own words (5 pts)
• Vocabulary: Multiple matching                                          (10 words for 5 pts)
• Derivatives: Gap filling sentences                                    (10 words for 10 pts)
• Letter: Cover letter in which you fill in the gaps.                (10 gaps for 5 pts)
• Theory: 2 terms and 3 main ideas from two units      (5 questions for 5 pts)

Syllabus: CHAPTERS 1,3,5,6,7,9,14,16,18,19,20,22. Self-study exercises (Word matching and derivatives), letter from page 352, terms and main ideas from the taught chapters.

- Γράμμα αίτησης εργασίας (άσκηση με 5 κενά)

- 5 ερωτήσεις θεωρίας (άσκηση με κενά)

- 5 λέξεις (αντισοίχιση με σημασίες)

- 5 παράγωγα

27 Νοεμβρίου  (Πεμπ.) Περιγραφή μιας μεταβιβάσιμης δεξιότητας με τη μέθοδο S.T.A.R. σε 4 παραγράφους. Συμβουλευτείτε το παράδειγμα στη διαφάνεια 20 του εισαγωγικού ppt (30 pts)

Υποτίθεται κατασκευάζετε την απάντηση που θα δώσετε σε συνέντευξη για μία από τις παρακάτω θέσεις εργασίας: a) a marketing position with the fashion industry, b) hotel receptionist, c) Public Relations for a bar, d) accountant, e) highschool student coach, f) tour guide. -situation/task. Μια περίπτωση στην οποία χρειάστηκε να αποδείξετε ότι έχετε αυτήν τη δεξιότητα. Τι καθήκον σας είχε ανατεθεί;

-action. Τι πρωτοβουλίες πήρατε που αποδεικνύουν ότι έχετε αυτήν τη δεξιότητα

-result. Ποιο ήταν το θετικό αποτέλεσμα των πράξεών σας

9-11 Δεκεμβρίου (ανάλογα με τη συμμετοχή) 15λεπτη προφορική παρουσίαση (ατομική ή ομαδική 2 ατόμων) με θέμα την οργανωσιακή κουλτούρα μιας χώρας της επιλογής σας, ποιοι είναι οι κυρίαρχοι τομείς, θέση της γυναίκας, τρόποι διεξαγωγής επαγγελματικών συναντήσεων, σημασία ιεραρχίας, κλπ. PPT με 12-20 διαφάνειες. (30 pts)
