Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

Content and Objectives of the course: The course will initiate participants into the basic concepts related to the formulation of research hypotheses, to the conceptualization and operationalization a research project, to descriptive statistics, regression analysis and statistical inference. In particular, the set of topics that will be examined are linear correlation and regression, sampling, random variables, the normal distribution, parameter estimation including confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, statistical inference, and statistical applications in social sciences.

Basic objectives of the course are to edify participants with theoretical and practical issues of the research tools used in social sciences and at the same time to familiarize students with the usage of computer software. Within the course lectures, examples connected to real issues will be provided, aiming at assimilating constructively all the investigated topics.
