Περιγραφή Μαθήματος
Module description:
The aim of the module is to familiarise students with the analytical tools used in the field of international macroeconomics and finance and show how these tools can be applied in examining key policy issues.
The module contributes to the development of (i) problem solving, via the analysis of several models in international finance and dynamic macroeconomics; (ii) research and information gathering via collecting information related to a specific term paper that students have to prepare. Other employability skills involve the improvement of students’ research ability (by learning how to approach research articles) and target-setting to achieve the timely completion of the term paper.
Tentative topics:
Topics covered include international trade and the current account; intertemporal current account and balance of payments; uncertainty in international financial markets; Money and exchange rates under flexible prices; nominal price rigidities; dynamic optimization; nominal/real exchange rate regimes; global imbalances; speculative attacks and currency crisis.
