Health Economics

(ECO172) -  ΡΕΒΕΚΚΑ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΠΟΥΛΟΥ

Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

This course introduces upper-level undergraduate students to health economics and covers elementary concepts and selected topics in the field. The health sector requires more complicated analysis compared to other sectors of the economy because of its several unique features, including the lack of information about what health services the consumer needs, the existence of significant uncertainty about health behaviors and outcomes, and payment for health services through third-parties (insurance companies) rather than direct payment by the consumer. This course introduces students to the methods used by economists to explore such issues and exposes them to the relevant academic literature.
